How to create positive and inspiring affirmations

I love inspiring words, quotes, phrases, mantras and affirmations. Words can motivate, inspire and keep us on track, especially when we have goals that we are trying to reach. Positive and inspiring affirmations support me in my life and work. I enjoy the simple process of creating them, and they give me comfort, guiding me along my chosen path.

If you are new to affirmation writing and you would like to give it a try, here are a few pointers to get you started. I have also shared the affirmations I have created to guide me in 2018. As with everything I share on my blog, please feel free to take the ideas that resonate with you and leave the rest behind!

Words are powerful

1. Create affirmations that serve you and your journey.
2. Keep them brief, specific and relevant.
3. Be positive by boldly affirming what you want.
4. Use powerful words to give yourself strength and motivation.
5. Use the present tense to support where you are now.
6. Enjoy the writing process!

Eight affirmations for 2018

‘I begin each day with a strong and open heart, and from a place of clarity, wonder and gratitude.’

‘My natural self is one of positivity, contentment and joy. I let go of any thoughts that do not support or serve me.’

‘My work and commitment are being supported. My dreams will gradually manifest into the reality that I am creating.’

‘Everything in life comes and goes. Its movement gently melts away my worries and fears. I do not sweat the small stuff.’

‘I enjoy the present moment because life is not a race. I embrace what I know, I’m grateful for where I am, and I’m open to who I’m becoming.’

‘I take strength from my mistakes and failures; they bestow wisdom and enable me to grow.’

‘I motivate myself from a place of kindness and compassion. I use words of encouragement that are no different from how I would talk to a friend.’

‘I do not need to seek external validation. In the present moment, I am enough.’

    These are a great way to stay focus and to gain strength when times become challenging. I think I might need to write myself one today that I can recite whenever the kids test my patience and push me to the brink. It’s a tough day today.

    My eldest daughter has one which I’m not sure if she made up or read somewhere, it’s; Worry Less, Love More. I need to think of my own I think x

    Yes I quite agree, I have a couple of them pinned up on my noticeboard so it helps me stay more positive. ‘An expert in anything was once a beginner’ and ‘A little progress each day adds up to big results’
