Let today be the start of something new

Happy new month and welcome to September!

Although I haven’t been to school in over 20 years, September feels like a time of change. To me, it’s like a new year without the chill of January. Which makes eliminating bad habits and switching up my routine a whole lot easier.

Today I’m sharing a few simple ways to get organised for the coming season. Hopefully generating a little extra time for family, friends and the warm hues of autumn.

Organise – your locker and desk

September is a great time to simplify. This can involve looking at your routine, commitments or editing your physical belongings. Either way, it’s uplifting to let go of the things that no longer add value or bring joy. When we remove the mental clutter and physical life laundry we feel a whole lot lighter. This feeling of lightness is very good for the soul.

Learn – and expand your mind

With pupils and students returning to education, why not try something new? After all, when the nights draw in it’s lovely to have something interesting to occupy the evenings. There are hundreds of tutorials online covering anything from brush lettering to starting a blog. I’m planning to sew my tiny cactus cross stitch and develop my calligraphy skills.

Plan – your school timetable

It’s valuable to set some goals and make a few plans for the season ahead. A little planning can help us stay on track. And having a positive goal can pave the way to good habits. It’s helpful to write down what you’d like to achieve. You could even pin it to your wall or desktop as a reminder. This combined with a few fun dates in your diary will help you stay focused on the more challenging days.

Treat yourself – to a new school bag

Every now and then it’s nice to treat yourself. After all, September is the perfect excuse for a new (school) bag and shoes! I always want to restyle my home at this time of year and introduce a few new season trends and colours. So, whether it’s a bag or a change of wall colour, why not embrace this season of change. My beautiful poppy bag was a gift from The Cambridge Satchel Company. I’m looking forward to taking it on a few adventures in the coming months.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

These are great tips. I have graduated years ago but your tips are still applicable to other aspects of my life.

    P.S. That bag is amazing.

I’m a bit late in the day but I’ll be doing an edit at home now I have some time on my hands! I’m looking forward to decluttering and ‘starting again’ with some aspects of life. All very exciting.
